PUTANG Restaurant
The inspiration for this project comes from the traditional Chinese “literati spirit”

Winner of the French GPDP Design Award – Global Top 10 Most Internationally Influential Designer Award, Italian A Design Award Gold Prize, American AIIDA International Design Award, and featured in the 2024 China Interior Design Yearbook.
The exterior facade has been renovated on the original building’s exterior walls, using two types of textured stone materials to emphasize texture and diversity, combined with lighting to present a sense of hierarchy. Highlighting nobility and elegance in a bustling urban area.

The prologue is the head and face of the banquet, and the head and face represent etiquette. The emphasis of etiquette is on meeting the host’s tone. The overall space is simple and bright, and when you first arrive, you can enjoy a kind of tranquility that emanates from the inside. First, immerse yourself in it, enjoy tea and wine collections, or take a nap and enjoy a cup of tea.

A spiral staircase winds around the stacked mountain, passes through the screen wall, and enters the private room area.

In the process of building renovation, the central part of the interior will be opened, dividing the original building scale and creating an inner courtyard for plant growth. Sunlight will be introduced to form a corridor in a lightweight architectural form, connecting the private rooms with the courtyard.

The entire restaurant is designed with 7 private rooms, featuring 7 different themed styles, representing the spirit of literati totems such as plum blossoms, orchids, bamboo, chrysanthemums, etc. The spatial layout is also very meticulous, with independent private room areas for visual, olfactory, olfactory, tactile, and auditory aspects. Furniture design is equally exquisite, from the elegance of tea drinking furniture before meals to the comfort of drinking furniture after meals.

On the second floor, a corridor surrounds the courtyard, connecting private rooms, tea rooms, and functional areas in a subtle and understated manner, creating a broad and expansive landscape.

The main private room has the most complete configuration and can accommodate 12-14 people for dining. A long tea table and tea display cabinet are both personal collections of the owner, used to entertain friends. The wall is outlined in a landscape painting with wooden carvings, and the geometric shapes at the top are a combination of tradition and modernity, creating a novel and harmonious architectural style.
