Eastern symmetry aesthetics

Oriental symmetry aesthetics is an aesthetic concept widely used in Oriental culture. It emphasizes balance, order and stability, with the central axis as the benchmark and elements on both sides echoing each other in shape, size and position, giving a sense of harmony and solemn beauty. This aesthetic concept is deeply rooted in Eastern philosophy, religion and lifestyle.

When intervening in the project, because the client loved to collect wine, he wanted to have a large wine wall to display, and to talk about Chinese wine culture when showing guests around, each bottle of wine has its own representative of Chinese culture. When we designed the wine wall, we thought of the “Oriental Symmetry Aesthetics” as an art philosophy, and the wine wall was displayed in a balanced way on both sides of the main corridor, and this symmetrical form has a solemn sense of order.

The left and right sides of each wine wall is a repetition of the sequence, extending to the visual center point at the end of a specially furnished wine, the sense of perspective of each channel reaches the Confucian emphasis on “neutral and calm”. Similarly the Taoist concept of “balance between yin and yang” is also reflected with in the symmetrical aesthetics. The two sides of the symmetry can be seen as the mutual reflection of yin and yang, opposing and interdependent, together forming a complete whole.

Whether it is the wine wall, pass, wall sconces, lighting, each detail of the design elements keep repeating, the visual language continues to deepen the memory of the guests, the design language in each of the intricate details of the whole but also to maintain simplicity.

Letting art tell stories

When we first met the owner of the Treasure Art Gallery, there were many treasured Artworks, each of which was a favorite. In order to party A better display of these Artworks, in terms of display we thought of the museum model, in the museum along the design of the flow of easy to see all the exhibits, and no matter the lighting display are maximized to amplify the beauty of the collection.

So we use the museum’s ideas in this case, in order to highlight the beauty of Artworks to a greater extent, whether it is the cabinet or the ceilings, the ground are using black wood finishes and stone, weakened off the guest visual area, so that the visual center to stay in the cabinet, the system of the cabinet lamps designed to only light the artwork does not light the surface of the cabinet, each and every detail is designed to show the artwork of the splendor.

Bai Juyi’s “Three Words Recalling the South of the River” says, “The flowers of the river are redder than fire at sunrise, and the water of the river is as green as blue in spring.” Through the description of the Jiangnan spring river, with “green as blue” vividly expresses the clarity and green of the river. The background of the cabinet uses the water-like wood carving drawn for this case, as well as the green as blue water pattern stone, which is a few design symbols extracted from the poem to show the beautiful scenery of the Jiangnan water town, in order to fit the positioning of “removing decorations to take the vegetarian, unexpectedly worth its heart”.

When setting up the spatial movement, we set up a lot of turns and transitions. We hope that the rhythm of the space, the flow of people, and the line of sight can be used to change the scenery. As people move forward and pause in the space, or up and down the trajectory to create different physical feelings and experiences, so as to respond to the “space”, “time” and “emotion”, and to perceive the diversity and richness of the space. The space is perceived as diverse and rich.

Essence Beyond Ornament

The Southern Dynasty – Song Xie Ling Yun created the rhetoric describing the East Mountain mountain life of the “Mountain Dwelling Fugue” has become a link between ancient and modern lifestyles, in the fugue, “remove the decoration to take the vegetative, casual value of its heart,” meaning “remove the modification, do not carve, and only the most essential pure, only the most close to the original heart. ” This is the positioning of this project, and also the “seclusion” heart of the owner of this treasure house.

After all, it is still a private place, in addition to the space to receive guests should also meet the needs of the office residence, the whole should have a certain spirituality and sense of relaxation. The overall color scheme is light and elegant, the wall design symbols as simple as possible, the complex elements used in the top, the ground, the visual center is always a quiet sense of calm, with the paintings and calligraphy is still Zen, and everywhere in line with the meaning of “to take the vegetarian decorations, casual value of its heart”.
